Bleed For Me begins with a bloody murder and the daughter of the main protagonist, psychiatrist Joe O'Laughlin, is the main suspect. O'Laughlin, who is simultaneously having to deal with both a touch of Parkinson's Disease and a painful separation form his wife, nonetheless proves a believable, insightful and sympathetic character and his first person narration is pleasantly entertaining and witty. As with all of Robotham's work, Bleed For Me is an expertly crafted book that is full of suspense and intrigue. While the subject matter is largely on the dark side, the pace is good and there is enough humour to keep the characters from falling into a depressing self-pity.
